A golden era started in the world of material science with the invention of fluoro polymer- Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) on 6th April 1938, by Mr. Roy J Pluncket, a scientist from Du Pont De Nemours U.S.A. The product was later branded and patented as TEFLON (as a registered trademark of Du Pont De Nemours, U.S.A).

PTFE is endowed with versatile characteristics like wide temperature withstanding capacity from -200 C to +200 C, tendency of being chemically inert, excellent dielectric properties, low water absorption, lowest co-efficient of friction, resistance to ultra violet rays, low smoke emission, non adhesive & non aging properties, etc. It finds wide industrial applications in chemical, petrochemical, bio-medical, electrical, electronic, mechanical, aeronautical, environmental, defense & space engineering applications.

PTFE is available in a number of forms: PTFE rods, tubes, sheets, plates, tapes, thin wall tubings, electrical sleeving, spiral wrapping or custom moulding. By a special process, PTFE sheets & tapes can be given a sodium etched surface, suitable for adhesive bonding.

PTFE Filled Grades
Improved material properties can be achieved by the addition of selected fillers. These fillers extend performance characteristics and provide wider application, particularly in demanding thermal stability and load support situations. In addition, the frictional and thermal properties of PTFE rods and other PTFE products remain generally unaffected.
